The standard we work to
We aim to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 at Level AA. These guidelines explain how to make web content easier to perceive, operate, and understand.
What we do
- write meaningful alternative text for images that carry information;
- keep text and background contrast strong enough to read;
- make every interactive element reachable and usable with a keyboard;
- label form fields clearly and describe errors in words, not only in color;
- use real headings in a logical order so the page can be navigated by structure;
- allow text to be resized without breaking the layout;
- check new pages before they are published.
Where we fall short
We would rather be honest than claim perfection:
- some manufacturer documents we link to are PDFs produced by third parties, and we cannot control their accessibility;
- embedded third-party content, such as maps, behaves according to its provider’s implementation;
- older photographs supplied to us may lack the descriptive detail we would write today.
We fix what we find, and we would like to hear about what we have missed.
