Escea fireplaces — available through Hearthbeats

Escea builds fireplaces in Dunedin, New Zealand, for rooms where a chimney chase was never part of the plan. Gas units that vent up, down, or sideways, an outdoor wood-fired fireplace that doubles as a grill, and an electric line that finally looks like fire.

    About Escea

    Designed in New Zealand
    for rooms with no chimney

Escea has been designing and building fireplaces in Dunedin, New Zealand, since 2002, and it engineers around one problem: most rooms weren’t built for a fireplace. Its flue can run vertically, horizontally, or under the floor, its zero-clearance rating lets you clad it in wood or drywall, and a TV can sit eight inches above the glass without a chase or a grille. It’s the line we reach for when the wall you want the fire on is the one that makes a conventional install impossible. See how we choose a fireplace on the Fireplaces page.

    Where Escea fits

The Escea lines we recommend most

Contemporary living room with a linear gas fireplace in a dark stone wall
    NB Series gas

Built-in gas with the No-Duct Heat System: vertical, horizontal, or under-floor venting, and a zero-clearance rating, so the surround can be wood, drywall, or a full media wall. Single-sided or see-through.

Modern direct-vent gas fireplace with a stone surround and a simple wood mantel in a bright living room
    NX Series gas

The same install freedom plus ducted heat distribution — send the heat to another room, spread it evenly, or push it outside. Power direct vent, frameless, in two sizes.

Outdoor gas fireplace on a stone patio at night
    EK Series outdoor

An outdoor wood-fired fireplace and a professional grill in one: firebrick-lined base, stainless back plates, cooking plates that slide away under the drawer when dinner is done.

Bright living room with a wall-mounted linear fireplace below a television
    LE and LR electric

Flame-Map technology projects flames onto ceramic logs — no venting, no gas line, and nothing to run to the roof. The LR series does the same with a linear ribbon on black glass.

How we help with an Escea fireplace

    • The wall you actually want We check the flue route first — up, down, or sideways — and tell you honestly whether the position works before anything is ordered.
    • Fireplace and TV together Eight inches of clearance changes the whole layout. We plan the wall with your builder so the TV, the fire, and the cabling all land right.
    • Specs for the trade Escea publishes full technical documents and runs an architectural advisory service; we get the right ones into your builder’s hands early.
    • Manufacturer warranty Escea’s warranty applies to everything we supply, and the SmartHeat app handles control and setup.

Want the fire on a wall with no chimney? That’s exactly what Escea is built for.

    Good to know

Escea questions we hear every week

Yes — Escea’s zero-clearance models take a TV as close as eight inches above the glass, with no chase and no vent grille. We confirm the exact model and clearance for your wall before you order.

No. The flue can run vertically, horizontally, or under the floor, so the fireplace can sit under a window, inside cabinetry, or in the middle of a room. That flexibility is the main reason we carry the line.

No. In North America the range covers built-in gas (NB and NX series, single-sided and see-through), the EK outdoor wood-fired fireplace and grill, and the LE and LR electric series.

Better than anything we’ve seen at this price: holographic projection mapped onto real logs rather than a lit ribbon. It’s still electric — for real heat in a big room, gas or wood wins.

No. Jesse is not a licensed contractor. We lock in the installer’s price before you order and pass you the details; we take no money for the installation.
